FAQ

Curious how things work?
Here are some answers to common questions.

How much do you charge?

There are two ways we can work together. Both require us to act as fiduciaries — meaning we are legally required to act in your best interests. That said, a first conversation is always free, and we will clearly discuss fees before you are ever asked to pay anything.

Fee-Based

Some clients choose to pay an hourly rate, or on a per-project basis, typically to build a financial plan. Most plans range in total fees from $1000 to $4000, but prices vary widely, and our hourly rate ranges from $250 to $500.

Investment-Based

Most of our clients choose to pay a set fee based on the investments we manage on their behalf. These fees typically range from 0.75% to 1.5% per year on the value of your account, and are deducted directly from your account on a quarterly basis. All of our financial planning and investment management services are included in these fees.

How much money do I need to work with Directional?

There is no minimum account size to work with us.

We are interested in building a long-term relationship with you and growing together over time.

How quickly will I see a return on my investment?

Investing takes time, and we believe in a customized approach, so your results will vary based on your time horizon, goals, and risk tolerance. What you should expect from your strategy will be clearly discussed in our conversations.

What kinds of investments do you typically recommend?

We believe that investments are tools to get a job done, and that good investing can only be done when we understand your goals. Once we develop a clear understanding of your objectives, we usually recommend a portfolio that may include

Traditional Investments

For most clients, a core portfolio of stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) is appropriate. The exact mix will vary depending on your objectives.

Alternative Investments

We may also recommend including alternative investments in your portfolio. Alternative investments are typically not liquid and involve investing directly into businesses, real estate, private funds, or projects.
